Agentic Economy Layer
Layer 7: Physical Infrastructure as SK Hynix

SK Hynix is a South Korean semiconductor company and the world's leading manufacturer of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) — the critical memory component stacked onto AI accelerator chips. SK Hynix currently supplies the majority of HBM chips used in NVIDIA's AI GPUs, making it one of the most important companies in the AI hardware supply chain.

SK Hynix was first to market with HBM3E, the latest generation of high-bandwidth memory, and is developing HBM4 for next-generation AI chips. The company's technological lead in HBM has made it a primary beneficiary of AI infrastructure spending, with demand consistently outstripping supply.

SK Hynix occupies a critical chokepoint in the physical infrastructure layer: the performance of every AI accelerator is bounded by the speed and capacity of its HBM, and SK Hynix produces the majority of the world's supply.
